The main reason why I enrolled in this programme is to improve in my profession and be able to provide better care to clients. However, the rising importance of integrative health and social care, and its application in all areas of health, has also led me into taking this decision.

What attracted you to online learning?

Due to occupational and life commitments, I needed a flexible structure to be able to study. This method of learning perfectly fits my needs.

Why did you choose the University of Derby Online Learning?

I had already previously graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Derby Online Learning and was impressed with the university’s online structure, including the learning advisors and all-round support staff. These outstanding standards have led me to choose UDOL again.

What were your goals and aspirations when starting your course? Have they changed during study?

My goals were to succeed academically, improve professionally and provide better care to my clients. These being without any detriment to my occupation itself, or personal life, where fortunately the flexibility and excellent support provided by the university has helped me to achieve these.

How did you balance your study around professional and personal commitments?

Each module runs on a number of weeks, and there are no requirements on when the learning has to take place during this weeks, and modules can also be taken in different trimesters. These allow me to plan and work on my studies according to my commitments.

How would you describe your online learning experience at Derby? What did you find particularly beneficial?

I would describe my learning experience with UDOL as a modern one, where the benefits of information technology and the internet make it possible for students to maximise potential and succeed academically. I found the fast response time from lecturers particularly beneficial, alongside the online interface and resources such as the discussion forums and personal blogs.

What was your most memorable moment during your time at Derby?

Apart from the graduation ceremony of my previous course with UDOL, I would say that the most memorable moments that I foster, are those of receiving positive results reflecting the efforts being undertaken.

How has your qualification helped your career? Has the knowledge you have acquired complemented previous work experience in any way?

The learning that I have attained has allowed me to provide better care for my clients – care which is integrative and reflects the latest body of evidence. In addition, my collaboration and co-operational skills with professionals in the health and social care spectrum were enhanced.

Can you describe your experience with just one word?
