As the Yorkshire Artspace's Press Release explains:

"Persistence Works, Yorkshire Artspace’s award winning flagship building on Brown
Street in Sheffield, will get a monumental 30 metre long artwork that will cover the
length of its front wall.

Robert Casselton Clark, an artist who has had a studio with Yorkshire Artspace
since the 1980s, created this ambitious new artwork during an 8 week residency,
held between February and April 2009.

The sculptural characters constructed by Casselton Clark were conceived as
being the supportive phantom friends of various individual fictional and factual
artists as they go about their daily creative struggle and play in their studio. These
sculptures have been photographed, enlarged and printed on vinyl. They will be
installed behind 27 glass panels on the Persistence Works façade over the next two
to three weeks. A series of evocative texts by Casselton Clark accompany the
images."
